Αναπληρωτής Ειδικός Γραμματέας Υπηρεσιών Υγείας
Ο Γεώργιος E. Δαφούλας διετέλεσε ειδικευόμενος Εσωτερικής Παθολογίας στην ΑΠΠΚ του Τμήματος Ιατρικής ΕΚΠΑ, με τρίμηνη μετεκπαίδευση στον Σακχαρώδη Διαβήτη (Queen Elisabeth University Hospital, Birmingham, Bρετανίας). Είναι πτυχιούχος της Ιατρικής Σχολής ΑΠΘ, με Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Health Services Management (HSM) του Nottingham Trent University και υποψήφιος διδάκτωρ του Τμήματος Ιατρικής του Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλίας με θέμα διατριβής την αξιολόγηση ιατρικής τεχνολογίας. Έχει εργαστεί ως κλινικός συντονιστής σε μεγάλης κλίμακας πολυκεντρικές κλινικές μελέτες ευρωπαϊκών προγραμμάτων ηλεκτρονικής υγείας (Renewing Health, United4Health, Smartcare, ΑCTIVAGE) καθώς και σε έρευνες ανάλυσης big data ηλεκτρονικών ιατρικών φακέλων και ηλεκτρονικής συνταγογράφησης. Έχει μετεκπαιδευτεί στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Birmingham, Βρετανίας και στο CSAIL του MIT, Βοστώνη, HΠΑ σε κλινικές εφαρμογές ηλεκτρονικής υγείας και είναι επιστημονικός συνεργάτης της Ιατρικής Σχολής του Εθνικού και Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών, σε πολυκεντρικές κλινικές μελέτες ευρωπαϊκών προγραμμάτων (Feel4Diabetes, Manage Care) για την πρόληψη και θεραπεία του Σακχαρώδη Διαβήτη. Ο Γ. E. Δαφούλας είναι τακτικό μέλος του Τομέα Ηλεκτρονικής Υγείας – Διασυνοριακής Περίθαλψης του Ινστιτούτου Επιστημονικών Ερευνών του Πανελληνίου Ιατρικού Συλλόγου, μέλος του ΔΣ της Ελληνικής Εταιρείας Μελέτης Εφαρμογών Πληροφορικής Υγείας (ΕΕΜΕΠΥ) και έχει διατελέσει μέλος επιτροπών για θέματα ηλεκτρονικής υγείας του Υπουργείου Υγείας. Eπίσης έχει συμμετάσχει στην διοργάνωση Ηealth Hackathons και Datathons στην Ελλάδα και στο εξωτερικό.
He is about to complete his PhD thesis at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Thessaly on the topic of Health Technology Assessment of e-health service. He has worked as the clinical coordinator in a number of e-health international projects, including the clinical pilots for Central Greece of the large scale EU co-funded projects “Renewing Health”, "United for Health" and “SMARTCARE” for the Health Technology Assessment of e-health and e-care services within the national health systems of European countries. He was a visiting scholar in CSAIL-MIT, Cambridge-Boston, USA working on the topics of open source/open science for Global Health with the SANA group http://sana.mit.edu/ and on the topic of real world data analytics working with MIT/Harvard MIMIC Database http://criticaldata.mit.edu/ Dr G. E. Dafoulas as a Clinical Research fellow of the School of Medicine, University of Athens, Greece and of the University of Birmingham, UK has worked in research projects related with Diabetes and chronic diseases (Feel4Diabetes, Manage Care), as well as real-world data analytics with the national e-prescription of Greece and THIN Database in UK. He is a Board Member of EEMEPY and of the e-health transborder sector of the Institute of Medical Research of the National Greek Medical Association He has served as member of the organizing advisory e-health committee of the Ministry of Health and Social Care of Greece during the Greek Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2014 and has participated in the organising committees of Health Hackathons and Datathons in Greece and abroad.
